LT. STEVE SMITH

Training

Almost 15 yrs in law enforcement
Graduated police academy December 1994
Began work as city police officer in Colorado city in June 1995
Began work as Hood County Deputy Sheriff in October 1998
Patrol Sgt. And Lt. for a total time of approximately 9 yrs

Much of the time spent on patrol specializing in DWI interdiction and supervising patrol shifts.

 

 CAPT. A.T. VINES

 AT Vines is the Administrative Captain for the Hood County Sheriff's Office.  and has been in that position since January 2005.  Captain Vines is a graduate of Texas A&M University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice, and Master's Degree in Public Administration (MPA).  Additionally, he holds a Master Peace Officer license from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE).

 

Captain Vines is a US Marine veteran with combat duty in Vietnam (1964-1967)  After his last assignment, serving with the Marine 5th Reconnaissance Battalion, he was Honorably Discharged in February 1967.  Later that year Vines graduated from the Corpus Christi, Texas Police Academy and went to work for the Corpus Christi Police Deparment, assigned to Patrol.  He later served several other agencies working in Narcotics, Patrol, and Criminal Investigations.  He served a term elected as Constable in Hill County, Texas and as a court-appointed investigator for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals investigating death penalty cases on final appeal.

 

Since joining the Hood County Sheriff's Office he has had oversight of the Criminal Investigations Division, Civil/Warrants and Transport Division, Property/Evidence, Disciplinary Review Board, Animal Control, School Resource Officers (SROs), Commissary, Clerical Support Division, two road crews, and is the founder and chair of both the Hood County Bail Bond Board and the Hood County Dispatch Board, Inc.

 


LYNN MCDONALD

Civil Deputy

LT. KATHY JIVIDEN Admin/Dispatch

started her Law Enforcement Career, August 31, 1982 at the Hood County Sheriff’s Office as a Dispatcher.   She became the first Supervisor for the Dispatch Office in 1985.  She was on the 9-1-1 Board, to bring 9-1-1 to Hood County in December 7, 1991.  May 9, 1999, after completing the police academy she was assigned as a Juvenile Investigator.  Her next assignment was a newly formed Narcotics Division for the Hood County Sheriff’s Office.  Lt. Jividen has had many assignments including, Patrol, and Patrol Shift Commander, and over the D.A.R.E Officer.  At the present time, she is responsible for the 9-1-1 Communications Center, Crime Stoppers, Wise Eyes, and Neighborhood Watch.
